It’s Destiny 2 raid prep and backlog shenanigans time, but what will we do next on The Backlog Odyssey?!

My Destiny to Play Destiny

Happy Thursday Backloggers!! I know it’s not quite Friday yet, but the fact that it’s only one day away is reason enough to celebrate to me!! And to get into the Thursday mood, I thought I’d just give you all a quick update on what the heck we’re up to here at the Backlog Odyssey household. Mostly because I seemed to have already got all of my other gaming shenanigans off my chest, earlier in the week. It’s a problem I have. I get so excited to talk about the games I’m playing for review that I jump the gun and just release it all at once. I know, I know, I need to work on my self control.

So, even though I’ve said “I’m done with Destiny 2” many times already, I just can’t seem to shake this game! One moment the wife and I are content with just dropping it and moving on, but then my dang brother jumps in and is like “hey, you guys want to raid??”, in a stoner, surfer dude kinda way. He doesn’t speak like that, it’s just how I imagine he talks in my head. And of course being the pushovers that we are, we agree. So, now, for the past few days, we’ve been grinding away at Destiny 2 (again), trying to power level so we can be ready for our first raid! Actually, I’m kind of excited to try this whole raid thing, it’s honestly the reason I agreed to play Destiny 2 in the first place. I’ve never been an MMO fan so I’ve never experienced anything like it and it always seemed really fun. I especially like how teamwork and communication is the key to being successful. That and the crazy puzzles and epic boss fights that ensue.

However, there’s one problem with trying to raid in Destiny 2, you need to be sure you’re ready! And believe you me, my wife and I are definitely not ready. Well, we’re at the “recommended” power level, but apparently that isn’t enough. So now, we’re grinding out our weekly challenges, completing strikes, gambits, exotic missions, anything that’ll increase our chances of inching that power level closer and closer to 700 (that’s the max). We have been completing the DLC as we go as well, just to say we did it, but honestly at this point, it doesn’t even seem worth it. Short of wanting to see where the story goes. But, this whole loot grinding thing is my favorite part, and I’m starting to see the appeal. The only problem is it takes so much work for such a little reward.

Anyways, we’ll be playing the raid this Saturday, so hopefully I’ll have some fun stories to tell come Monday. Either that or you’ll never hear of this game again!

What Else Is There?

Aside from crawling back to Destiny again and again, I’ve also been busy playing all of these games I received for review! And I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed with myself that I was able to squeeze out two reviews in two days!! The first being Our World is Ended, an interesting visual novel with your typical anime antics and the second being Panty Party, the odd and slightly intriguing action game where you play as a sentient pair of undies. Both were very unique and I really enjoyed writing about them, even if their subject matter could be off putting for some. I did try to keep them both light hearted though, and “safe for work” so go check them out if you haven’t read them yet!! Below are the links:

Now the real question is, “What’s next Patty ole boy?”. To which I respond, more backlog shenanigans of course! With which I’ll be posting a new poll very soon (probably the beginning of next week), and a new review for a fancy little game from NIS America called Lapis x Labyrinth, but that won’t be until the end of the month. The embargo is up on May 21st so expect to see some coverage of it around then! I will say this though, based on what I’ve seen of it so far, it looks very fun! Check out the trailer here:

And finally, starting tomorrow (technically it started last week), I’ll be writing a weekly Friday post that’ll be purely based on your suggestions! So, if you have something you’d like me to ramble on about, gaming, gaming adjacent or non-gaming, send me a tweet! I’ll also be posting the request on Twitter later today. So look forward to that!!

Windows 95 was Code Named Chicago

Well my friends, that’ll do it for today!! I thought it would be fun to do a quick birds eye view of what we’re currently up to here at The Backlog Odyssey! I’m also super excited to find out what I’ll be playing next after I put up the next poll. It’s always interesting to see both what my wife comes up with and what you all decide is the best option. Here’s hoping it’s a good one this time!

Until tomorrow backloggers, have a great rest of your Thursday!
