Good morning backloggers! It’s Saturday, WOO, time to get in a ton of gaming in, stay up too late and achieve maximum Monday exhaustion and grumpiness! Either that or get all those chores finished around the house that you were putting off all week. It probably would have been a better idea if you picked at them throughout the week so you could relax today, but hey, to each their own. Just promise me you take some “me time” and finish up that game your playing.

Since it’s the weekend, I’m going to try and keep today’s update a little shorter and just get to the meat of the potatoes (or something like that). I mean, it’s probably not going to happen, but I say this to fool myself into thinking I can! And the first thing I want to say is – I COMPLETED CATALOGING MY GAMES! Man, I really didn’t think it would take that long or that much effort. But honestly I feel much better now that it’s done.

I now have a concise list of pretty much every game I own. I say pretty much because trying to track down all of my digital games has been a nightmare and I may have missed a game to two. But with that being said, my initial assumption of my total number of backlogged games may have been off by more than just a few. And without further ado here is the final count (go easy on me):

Total Owned: 1219

Total Completed: 475

Total Backlogged: 742

Wowzers, that’s a lot of games no matter how you look at it. I don’t know if I should be proud or ashamed!

I feel like I need to explain myself a little bit. In the interest of consistency and simplicity, I opted to only use two statuses for my games. Complete and Unfinished. So, for any game that I recall beating, I marked as Complete and any game I’ve either never played or have never beaten I marked them as Unfinished/Unplayed. This is mostly to make myself feel better and to make the list a little easier to read. There are also a few duplicates in there across multiple platforms, which would have been too time consuming to weed out, so that bolstered the number a little bit. As I complete those games though I’ll knock it and all of it’s duplicates off the backlog. No real need to replay a game just because it’s on every console known to man.

Backlog Hunter: World

More progress in Monster Hunter: World was made last night and my wife and I are getting closer and closer to figuring out what this mysterious Rathian is! They did throw us for a little bit of a loop though and tossed an actual story mission at us as well! This time it was hunting down a high rank Anjanath in the Wildspire Wastes. He doesn’t normally show up there and after the Anjanath-Barroth-Bazelgeuse-Diablos tornado of teeth and scales, I wish he’d just go home.

It’s kinda fun revisiting each of these areas and fighting all of the stronger versions of the monsters. It also helps that they’re starting to drop high rank materials, so we can eventually build all that high rank gear that’s teasing us in our upgrade trees. Then, we can be the MonHun hunters we’ve always dreamt of being!

I can tell I’m addicted to Monster Hunter because even when I’m not playing the game I’m diving in and out of FAQs all over the internet trying to read up on high rank builds, monster strats and rare item locations. I’ve already started writing down my notes on the game for the upcoming January podcast and I look forward to speaking more in depth about this game’s systems and my overall thoughts!

This one goes up to 11

I’ll be starting some new games really soon and if you’d like to alter my fate you can go vote on the game I’ll be playing next by visiting the Twitter poll! It’s happening right now and it’ll be up tomorrow so vote soon and vote often!! Actually you can only vote once, so ignore that second statement.

I’m really looking forward to this months podcast as well and I already received some fun submissions from all of you to include in it! The theme is your favorite gaming accessories, so if you’d like to have your flaming hot takes heard, send me them to me at [email protected]!

Oh! And I almost forgot! The Resident Evil 2 demo was released yesterday on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC! I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, but I’m super excited to dive in and give it a go. I’ll report back tomorrow on my thoughts!

Well, that went a little longer than I intended!! Until tomorrow my friends have a great Saturday!
