Czars of Dorfa

Happy snow day everyone!! To those who have to suffer the agony of shoveling your driveways every year and deal with temperatures below what should be legal, I feel your pain! To those who don’t… *slow clap*

Aside from working on arm day (you know because of the shoveling) I may have been playing some video games. Well, I was playing video games last night at least. Today I was shoveling, and then driving in less than ideal conditions and now – working. Anyways, I’m sure you’re picking up what I puttin’ down.

So, remember that time when I was saying I had doubts with whether or not I’d be able to muster the drive to play more Fairy Fencer F. Well, I may have usurped that yesterday by sinking a good 3 or 4 hours into it. Which has cemented my desire to keep playing it! Each time I boot it up it’s just a blast of joy and anime, which is oh so lovely.

This time around I met and enlisted the help of two new characters: Sherman, the annoyingly good at everything pianist and Pippin, the weird green cat thing with a blue afro and a sword sticking out of his head. Yeah, a nice eclectic mix. We met Sherman earlier in the story when attending the Dorfa’s (evil corporation) soiree and now he’s helping us on our journey. This was just after our “rough” fight with the latest “Czars of Dorfa” Paiga (the useless lackey) and Apollonius. Well really we just fought Apollonius as Paiga hid in a corner and ran away to report back to his boss once the fight was over.

Pippin on the other hand just kind of came out of nowhere and helped our main character Fang get out of a predicament. That and he kind of just invited himself into the party. Oh and the predicament Fang was in? He’s a bum and he can never afford to pay for the mountains of food he tends to eat. But Pippin jumped in and saved the day and now he gets to grace us with his presence!

Pippin may be a bit of a strange addition, mostly because he’s just so weird. But not really unexpected in a game like this. JRPG devs tend to always find a way to add an off brand and eccentric character to your party and that’s why I love them! And boy is this guy weird. He seems really fun though and I’m excited to have him as part of the team. And he shall never leave it, even if I find more characters to fill out the roster. Just like my good friend Quina from Final Fantasy IX. Forever present and forever awesome.

Aside from that though, it’s all about grinding out those side quests, exploring dungeons and working toward freeing the Goddess from the furies that bind her!

Elder Dragon Tracking

I didn’t make quite as much progress in Monster Hunter last night though. Instead my wife and I got a little distracted with the fancy special events that have been going on. And one in particular has me the most excited. That being the event that’ll allow me to unlock some super sweet Devil May Cry gear!!

We only attempted the mission once so far, but it basically tasks you with fighting an Anjanath, an Odogran, a Rathalos and then a Teostra (which we haven’t even fought before!) one after the other. We were able to get through the first three monsters with relative ease, but the Teostra ended up taking us out. I am determined to get that Devil May Cry gear though, come hell or high water!!

After being put in our place by the almighty Elder Dragon Teostra it was time for us to just bite the bullet and try and continue the story. All we have to do now is track down info on the three new Elder Dragons that have appeared (including Teostra) and inevitably fight them. But I’ll tell you what, I’m not going to let these special events lapse without getting that Devil May Cry gear, and you can take that to the bank!

27 Cubes in a Rubik’s Cube

Well that’ll do it for today my friends! A little late today, but better late than never right?! I should hopefully have some good news on the Devil May Cry gear front tomorrow and who knows, maybe even more progress storywise!!

Oh and before I forget, my good friend Grrouchie Serge from the Backlog Busters started his own blog series called the Backlog Confessional so you should go check it out! The first edition is a great read where he covers playing The Messenger, Guns, Gore and Cannoli and some updates on his progress toward tackling the ever looming backlog!! You can find it by following the below link:

Don’t even hesitate to go read it, in fact, drop what you’re doing and go read it right now!!

And once your done reading that be sure to have a great rest of your day, and I’ll see you tomorrow!!
