The Daily Backlog | Day 5

Logging the Backlog

Welcome fellow backloggers to the lazy Sunday edition of The Daily Backlog. Since I’m sure you want to get back to your pantsless gaming sessions in Backloggertonfieldville, I’m going to keep today’s update short and sweet. Like a deliciously caramelized banana tarte tatin. Yes, I have been watching more of the Great British Baking Show.

As promised in the early days of this segment of The Backlog Odyssey of four days ago, I started recataloging all of my games in my collection. So far I’ve gotten through my NES and SNES games and will slowly enumerate the rest of my games starting with all of my physical articles in the days to come. The digital ones are going to be a little tougher since I don’t have them all installed and at the ready. I’ll also need to figure out what I’m going to do with the games I’ve received through subscription services like the Xbox Game Pass.

Until I’m able to finish up the website’s backlog tracker I’ll be using The Backloggery for now. It’s a great service and website so check it out if you’re looking for a way to catalog your own games. This will make it a little easier to keep tabs on what I’ve played and what I plan to play in the near future. I’ll also be creating a new account on the website just so I can start with a clean slate. That and I can be more meticulous about how I file each game I’ve played and still need to play. Because who knows what the heck I was doing the last time I did this. I’ll be sure to post a link to the new profile as soon as it’s ready.

One Step Forward Five Hundred Steps Back

I was able to get an extended play session of Monster Hunter in last night, and we were able to surpass the first big hump in the game. Dealing with the Zora Magdaros and reaching the coveted High Rank Hunter status! Now just 500 or so more humps to go. Seriously though, this game has all of a sudden become overwhelming again with all of the new crap I need to grind for! Just looking at the new upgrade tree gives me heart palpitations. Not that I’m complaining, decking out my bow wielder with the coolest new crap is what Monster Hunter is all about!!

Five’s a Something or Other

With the podcast just around the corner I’m glad to see all the interactions with the poll I tweeted out about what we’ll be playing next! So far it looks like Retro Consoles are winning! I think this should be fun and as soon as the poll is finished I’ll be tweeting out a selection of random games from that category to choose from next. You can find the poll here if you’d like to vote. There’s only three days left!

And finally, since the theme of this month’s podcast will be revolving around gaming accessories, I also sent out a request for all you readers and listeners to send me some of your favorites. And you can do that in either written or audio form by emailing the show at:

Until we all suffer from a bad case of the Mondays tomorrow, have great lazy Sunday!
